Meet the Tutors!

Our team consists of experienced professionals who recognize the power of education and share the same passion for teaching. At Michael's Tutors, we recruit young and bright college students and recent college graduates who have shown mastery of their respective subjects and who we believe can help us accomplish our mission. Feel free to browse through their profiles and get to know them better.

Michael Arriaga

"Hi, my name is Michael Arriaga, owner and founder of Michael's Tutors! I recently graduated from California Lutheran University with a B.S. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance, and I plan on returning to school to obtain my MBA within the following year. At a very young age, I developed a passion for helping other students excel in the academic setting. I have previous experience tutoring students, kindergarten through college, in the subjects of mathematics, English, and Spanish! My hobbies include: traveling, learning new skills, and playing soccer and rugby. I am eager to meet you and help you achieve your academic goals!"

Angelika Pasion

"Hi, there! My name is Angelika Pasion. I recently graduated from California Lutheran University with a B.S. in Biology. I am an assistant teacher for Anna Marie Montessori daycare in Orange County. I have also tutored children from elementary school through high school. I enjoy learning new things and sharing them with others, which is why I'm excited to become your tutor. During my free time, I enjoy hiking, reading, exploring new places, and exercising. I look forward to working with you and helping you on your path to success."

Bryan Acevedo

"Hi, I'm Bryan. I recently graduated from UC Berkeley with a major in Sociology. While living in Berkeley, I tutored elementary and middle school students, while instructing cultural, public speaking, and fitness classes. I like to make a difference in peoples' lives and help them achieve their goals. During my free time, I like to play soccer and advocate for racial and social justice within my community."

Justin Partovi

"Hi, my name is Justin! I'm a UCLA graduate student applying to medical school this year. I love to teach, as I've been a tutor since high school teaching math and Spanish to my peers and classmates. Since then I've been professionally tutoring at Mathnasium for almost two years. On the side, I love to play music! I've been playing piano since I was seven years old. You can also catch me on the basketball courts. I'm no good but I'll pretend like I am."

Francisco Rubio Fernandez

"Hi, I am Francisco. I hold a Bachelors of Arts in Global Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles. I am an alumnus of Palisades Charter High School, wherein I had the privilege of taking and excelling in many AP courses. I have over five years of experience teaching people of all ages how to swim, as a lifeguard working for the City of Los Angeles. I am highly adaptable to my students; I have successfully taught children and adults with autism and Down syndrome how to swim and survive in the water. I am currently enrolled at the Santa Monica and Long Beach community college systems working towards my second bachelor's in computer science. I have great interest in international politics and economics, as well as cyber security."

Benjamin Sachrison

"Hello, I'm Ben. I was born and raised in San Diego, California (Go Padres!). I graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science with a concentration in American Politics and a bachelor's degree in History from UCLA. I realized the classes I loved the most throughout my education career were due to the amazing educators who made the topic come alive. These educators were always engaging, easily understandable, and demanded excellence of their students. I try to follow their example in my tutoring approach. Learning should be fun and rewarding, not a chore to simply get done. My tutoring method is student led and will always be adjusted to to best fit the needs of the student.

I have four years of tutoring experience working with middle schoolers during an after school mentoring program. I worked directly with students who needed help on homework, test taking strategies, and organizational skills. I also frequently worked in groups of 3-4 students. In this setting, I tutored World History, Ancient World History, and American History."

Hazel Ramos

"Hi my name is Hazel! I'm currently a third year student at UCLA studying Sociology and Social Studies. My interest in tutoring stems from my own experiences. Growing up I did not have the resources available that provided me with additional help in my school work. I now have the opportunity to support and teach students in my own community. Additionally, transitioning to online learning has only created additional challenges for students. As I help my own siblings adapt to online learning, I understand how difficult it can be for both the child and the parent to navigate virtual learning. My ultimate goal is for students to fully understand the subjects they need help in while also finding ways to best support them during virtual learning."
